 FPC is very excited to introduce our new Pro Instructor Kevin Jackson. Kevin is the Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s tennis at Cairn University and led the women to win 2019, 2021 & 2022 CSAC Championships and was named CSAC Coach of the Year all three years. Kevin also is the Head of all racquet sports at Stanton Ridge Country Club where he led the Women's Pickleball team to the North Jersey Women's Pickleball League final and got the silver medal! 


Kevin has been a certified USPTA tennis professional since 1988. He is also in the esteemed USPTR “Triple Threat Club” having his professional certification PTR (tennis), PPR (pickleball) and PPTR (platform tennis). 


His Racquets career includes Director at Princeton Tennis Program (USA’s oldest non-profit tennis program); East Brunswick Racquet Club; Hopewell Valley Tennis Club and Winning Touch Tennis (Pretty Brook Racquet Club).


Kevin also brings an impressive tournament record.

Standout achievements: 

5.0 USTA team winning divisional and sectionals earning a spot at the USTA National Championships where they won silver.

Richard Livornese, Jr. is a native of Flemington NJ.  He is a graduate of Hunterdon Central where he played Varsity Football and Lacrosse.  Richard is currently finishing his Senior Year at Stevens Institute of Technology.  


Two years ago, Richard started playing Pickleball at FPC and he quickly got hooked.  Ever a competitor, Richard started competing at local tournaments.  As he found success, he branched out and began playing at different venues all over the country.  He has played in NJ, NY, PA, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, Kansas City and other venues.  He plays at the Pro level now in all categories (Singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles). At 5.0 he won many medals. 


 He is currently sponsored by Diadem Pickleball and works with The Pickleball Clinic, a fast-growing online community of pickleball enthusiasts.  


Richard is a Pro Pickleball instructor, and he will be working at his hometown Club, Flemington Pickleball Club (FPC).

Dana has been an elementary and middle school special education teacher for 25 years. basketball. She was Division 1 Tennis player at Providence College, where she played 1st singles and 1st doubles all 4 years. Dana was Inducted into the Ridge High School Athletic Hall of Fame for tennis and

basketball.


Dana fell in love with pickleball and quickly became a Senior pro level tournament player and an IPTPA Certified Instructor and Certified Junior Instructor

(International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association)

If you’re just learning the basics and have limited racquet sports ability, you’re a ROOKIE! Your participation in these clinics will help our Pro Staff evaluate your ability and direct you to the correct Open Play sessions at FPC when you’re ready. 


Goal at the end - Beginner Open Play

  

  • Intro and review - proper scoring, two bounce rule, offense-defense and proper position of serving and returning teams.
  • Proper serving technique, how to return serve and to successfully sustain a Pickleball point in a live play format.
  • Development of the proper pendulum stroke on the forehand & backhand side 
  • Gaining confidence to approach the NVZ (kitchen) to develop proper dinking techniques and volleying skills.


Our Pro Staff will work with new players to get them on the court playing in our Open Plays in no time.

If our Pro Staff moves you up from ROOKIE OR you have a racquet sports background, you’re ready for NEXT STEPS CLINICS. Your participation in these clinics will help our Pro Staff evaluate your ability and direct you to the correct Open Play sessions at FPC. As you continue in these clinics, you will stay competitive and possibly advance to the next Open Play level at FPC!


Goal at the end - 

Beginner/Intermediate, and Intermediate Open Play


  

  • Learning to consistently dink while changing directions from cross court to down the line forehand & backhand.
  • Keeping your advantage and not retreating from the NVZ (kitchen)
  • Will learn to sustain a short volley exchange at the net.
  • Developing a consistent 3rd shot drop to help you aggressively move to the NVZ (kitchen) as the serving team. 
  • Helping teams work together to approach NVZ (kitchen) for dinks & volleys.
  • More advanced movement and mobility drills developing court quickness.
  • Work and focus on improving control on forehand and backhand groundstrokes (direction, depth, height)
  • Learning proper technique especially on the backhand side
  • Growth in ability to keep ball in play during short rallies.
  • Development in shot selection, shot placement, shot power and shot depth including serves and return of serves.

Goal at the end - High Intermediate/Advanced Play


  • Can consistently dink while changing directions from cross court to down the line forehand & backhand
  • Punches volley to the back 1⁄2 of opponent court to keep opponents at the baseline
  • Performs 3rd shot drop from the baseline for purpose
  • Moving forward as a team to approach NVZ for dinks & volleys
  • Demonstrates control on forehand and backhand groundstrokes (direction, speed, depth, height) Keeps ball in play during rallies and is aware of minimizing errors
  • Able to communicate effectively with partner and utilize different strategies to expose opponent weaknesses • Using deeper and higher returns to approach the net quicker
  • Uses offensive lobs effectively
  • Demonstrates better placement and depth on serves and return of serves

  • Sustains a volley exchange at the net and beginning to use directional control
  • Can demonstrate a block volley
  • Able to hit winning volley when a ball is popped up
  • Better consistency when performing 3rd shot drop from the baseline
  • Moves effectively with partner easily switching sides and communicates when required
  • Controls play at the NVZ line by keeping their opponent back if they're at the baseline
  • Can demonstrate an effective poach and understands when it's appropriate
  • Able to change a fast-paced strategy to a slow one and vice versa
  • Can consistently perform an overhead and beginning to place the shot for winners •Demonstrates control on forehand and backhand groundstrokes (direction, depth, height, spin)
  • Understands proper shot selection to minimize errors
  • Uses offensive lobs effectively
  • Beginning to use spin effectively on a variety of shots
  • Beginning to anticipate shots more frequently (watching opponents paddle face)

  • Consistently punches volley to the appropriate spot on the court
  • Sustains a controlled volley exchange at the net with directional control creating unforced errors
  • Can consistently hit 3rd shot drop from baseline during match play
  • Can drive a third shot for power as an option
  • Initiates and maintains an extended dink exchange to elicit a put-away shot
  • Can demonstrate an effective poach and understands when it's appropriate
  • Able to change a fast-paced strategy to a slow one and vice versa
  • Demonstrates control on forehand and backhand groundstrokes(direction, depth, height, top spin and under spin/slice) • Knows the rules including player position relative to scoring and stacking on the return and serve
  • Uses offensive lobs effectively
  • Demonstrates placement, spin and depth on return of serves
  • Uses spin effectively on a variety of shots
